Just think about it, do you think there is any other time that the world needs God than today? The economic systems are going down and pestilences are springing up in different parts of the world like wild fire. but for those that believe, the situation is different. The Word of God tells us that our end shall be better than our beginning, but also it comes with responsibility. For every prophetic Word that takes effect, three main characters must be actively involved.
1.The Prophet that declares God’s Word
2.The prophecy (the Word)
3.The Receiver of the Prophecy.
Though these three characters play very crucial roles, but that of the receiver of the Word is particularly critical. The Word that is not believed and acted upon will not bring you any profit. The scriptures says: for unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them; but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. For we which have believed do enter into rest (Hebrews 4:2,3).
As a believer, how the Word of prophecy becomes a reality in our life is hinged on our belief. At a wedding ceremony, the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ realized this irrefutable and incontestable truth and said “whatsoever he says to you, do it” (John 2:5). This year in the God ‘s Family Church, we are running with a prophetic Word, that our ending shall be better than our beginning. The scripture says the end of a matter is better than the beginning (Ecclesiastes 7:8). This is our season of greatness; our season of uncommon favour.
A story narrated in the scriptures in the Book of 1 kings 17:7-24 brings to light the potency of the Words of Prophecy and how the receiver can be blessed without bounds. God said to Prophet Elijah “Go at once to Zarephath in the region of Sidon and stay there. I have directed a widow there to supply you with food, “so he went to Zarephath. When he came to the town gate, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and asked, “Would you bring me a little water in a jar so i may have a drink? As she was going to get it, he called, ” And bring me , please,a piece of bread. “As surely as the LORD your God lives,”she replied, “I don’t have any bread- only a handful of flour in a jar and little olive oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it-and die. Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid. Go home and do as you have said, But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son. “For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel says “The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the LORD sends rain on the land,” she went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family. For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the LORD spoken by Elijah.
This is quite amazing and in this story, for three and half years there was no rain in the land and all the crops were dying. This could be likened to an economic recession in the land as business were not doing as great as they ought to. Salaries were probably not promptly paid and those that received, had meager amount, and God sent Prophet Elijah to a widow.
How do you figure this out? The ways of God is unfathomable. God can send you help from where you may least expect it to come from and It may just be that source you had neglected. The Prophet then asked her to bring him a cup of water.
